چکیده

Copper(I) halides have been successfully established as a preparative tool for the synthesis of neutral and low-charge molecules of the fifth and sixth main-group elements. Inspired by publications of Rabenau et al. as well as M$ller and Jeitschko, a whole series of phosphorus, phosphorus chalcogenide, and heteroatomic chalcogen molecules were obtained in a copper halide matrix. Mixed phosphorus–arsenic polymers can also be obtained in this way. The catalytic influence of Cu ions and the structural flexibility of the copper halide are the major reasons for the success of this approach. A possible stabilizing influence of the matrix on the embedded molecules must also be taken into account. Thus,

A 1D Schiff base zinc polymer as a versatile metallo-ligand for the synthesis of polynuclear zinc cages.

The 1D polymeric Schiff base zinc complex, [LZn(2)Et(2)](n), where LH(2) = (NN'-ethylene-bis(4-iminopentan-2-one)) has been demonstrated as a useful synthetic metallo building block for the synthesis of homo and heteronuclear zinc cages. The reaction of [LZn(2)Et(2)](n) with CdI(2) afforded the hetero-nuclear cage, 1, [L(2)Zn(4)(Et)(2)CdI(4)], while reaction with HgI(2) afforded a hexanuclear z...

Effect of changing the amount and type of fat and carbohydrate on insulin sensitivity and cardiovascular risk: the RISCK (Reading, Imperial, Surrey, Cambridge, and Kings) trial1234

BACKGROUND Insulin sensitivity (Si) is improved by weight loss and exercise, but the effects of the replacement of saturated fatty acids (SFAs) with monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) or carbohydrates of high glycemic index (HGI) or low glycemic index (LGI) are uncertain. OBJECTIVE We conducted a dietary intervention trial to study these effects in participants at risk of developing metaboli...

Hemoglobin glycation index as a useful predictor of therapeutic responses to dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors in patients with type 2 diabetes

INTRODUCTION A high hemoglobin glycation index (HGI) and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) level are associated with greater inflammatory status, and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors can suppress inflammation. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between HGI and the therapeutic effect of DPP-4 inhibitors. METHODS This retrospective cohort study followed 468 patients with type 2 diabetes r...

Structure of solvated mercury(II) halides in liquid ammonia, triethyl phosphite and tri-n-butylphosphine solution.

Liquid ammonia, trialkyl phosphites, and especially trialkylphosphines, are very powerful electron-pair donor solvents with soft bonding character. The solvent molecules act as strongly coordinating ligands towards mercury(ii), interacting strongly enough to displace halide ligands. In liquid ammonia mercury(ii) chloride solutions separate into two liquid phases; the upper contains tetraamminem...

Adducts from in vivo action of the carcinogen 4-hydroxyaminoquinoline 1-oxide in rats and from in vitro reaction of 4-acetoxyaminoquinoline 1-oxide with DNA and polynucleotides.

In vivo 4-hydroxyamino[2-3H]quinoline 1-oxide-modified DNA and in vitro 4-acetoxyamino[2-3H]quinoline 1-oxide-modified DNA were enzymatically hydrolyzed, and the hydrolysates were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. The two patterns were compared, and we showed that all of the high-performance liquid chromatography peaks which were recovered from in vivo-modified DNA were presen...
